Treasures From The Sea

I mentioned last week that I needed to feel the sun warming my skin and feel the sand between my toes. On Friday my girls had a school holiday so we hit the beach for a lovely, albeit slightly cool, afternoon. We met up with some friends, walked the shore, they ran and dug in the sand, and even found some beach treasures.

We also came across an old shipwreck. For a little while imaginations turn to swashbuckling sailors and buried treasures but it’s actually a 1920’s snapper fishing boat that ran aground during a storm. The local archaeologist come mark it off whenever it shows up so that eventually the tides and the sand can cover it back up, leaving it hidden so that in some other time it will be discovered anew and little eyes will grow bright with the possibility that pirates once roamed our shores.

  1. What a perfect way to spend a school free afternoon, I wish we lived closer to the shore AND that we were not trapped in an everlasting winterMollyxxx

  2. Marty, thank you for your kind comment on my blog. I'm one of your new \”sisters\” in the small group at SDG. Looking forward to getting to know you through our interaction there and through our blogs. I've just finished reading this post about your trip to the beach and your recent post about Sam. First, your beach looks a whole lot like my beach! Those were wonderful pictures of your kids enjoying their day off. I'm in LOVE with Sam!! My sons are all grown up (29 and 30) but Sam's pictures remind me of my youngest at that age. Sounds like he keeps you on your toes and keeps you laughing. I'm going to look for you on Facebook so we go ahead and start interacting there also.Nice to meet you! Looks like we have a common interest in photography!

  3. Oh, how these photos make me long even more for summer to arrive! We typically visit the shores of Lake Michigan for our beach fix and enjoy each and every moment of our time there! There really is nothing quite like walking along a beach at leisure! 🙂
